The discovery of the Didache in Istanbul

In 1875, the "Teaching of the Twelve Apostles" (the Didache) was discovered in Istanbul. It is an early Christian text long forgotten in ancient libraries. The find is called one of the most important literary discoveries of the modern era concerning early Christianity.

Since its discovery, scholars have debated the nature of the meals described in the text – whether an agape meal or the eucharist.
