Jürgen Moltmann and the theology of hope
Jürgen Moltmann turned to Christ in British captivity (1945–1948). He studied under Barthians at Göttingen, served as a pastor, and from 1967 taught at Tübingen. He was influenced by the Marxist Ernst Bloch.
Moltmann's chief works were Theology of Hope (1965), The Crucified God (1973), The Church in the Power of the Spirit (1975), The Trinity and the Kingdom (1980), God in Creation (1985, Gifford Lectures), and The Way of Jesus Christ (1990). He engaged in dialogue with Latin American liberation theology and with Marxists.
